Fresh Squeezed Disappearing Nine Patch WIP: Still working on it...

I started this in June. Then I got distracted several times, and I am finally starting to finish it. So this weekend, I made a pieced back and started quilting.

It is my first time free motion quilting, and at one point this morning, I thought I killed my machine. My husband jokes that I am trying to kill it so I can get a new one. I wouldn't mind a fancy new one, but I do love that this one is all metal, I can oil it, and my husband has already fixed the on/off switch twice! It is a workhorse. Somehow, when I went and bought a new light, and we played with the shuttle, it kicked back to life. It is Kenmore 16801 (my mom's old machine bought before I was born) circa early 1970's. It is probably 35? years old. I don't think it has been serviced in 30 years either-although I might be wrong so correct me mom if I am. I know I haven't shelled out the $100 to do it! Anyway, I am almost finished quilting it-maybe by Wednesday I will be moving on to the binding.

I also shucked 15 ears of corn this morning so we could freeze some ears for the winter. I should have taken a picture-I know that really isn't that much corn for those of you who have farms, but it did make a pretty impressive pile of husks on my countertop. We now have 30 halves frozen for later. :)

I love it - and with the pieced back, you almost have 2 quilts in 1!! Frozen sweet corn is so yummy in the winter, too....
