Scrappy Christmas Quilt
I stayed up late last night finishing piecing this Christmas quilt together. It is going to be for Zerah. Last summer I participated in a Scrappy Christmas Block exchange, and I am just now getting all the blocks put together. I received six blocks from the exchange, and I made two last summer with one more added last night. I like how bright and happy it is! It is 46"x46".
I have been thinking of the Christmas traditions I want to start with my family, and I want to make a concerted effort to start establishing the ones passed down to me from my family and new ones I develop as well. One tradition I want to start is having a Christmas quilt that you sleep under starting Thanksgiving night leading up to Christmas day. I think that will be a fun way to start anticipating the season each year. I don't know if I will have this one finished by Thursday night (probably not), but hopefully it will be finished during this holiday season.:)
I need to finish making my Christmas presents, too! I have one almost finished and several more to go.

Friendship Star Swap
These stars will be going out in the mail today for a swap that sewmanyquilts is sponsoring. I have two more that are almost pieced together. I will get an equal amount of stars back in the end! I love the Alexander Henry fabric I used on the bottom three.See there has been sewing going along with all the cooking lately. I hope everyone is having a great day!
P.S.-I just found another blog that has a couple of recipes that can be made ahead of time for Thanksgiving-Sweet Potatoe Casserole and Sweet Potatoe Cheescake!

Vintage Sheet Swap
I received my lovely set of vintage sheet fat quarters in the mail today! I sent in two different sheet combinations back at the very end of August and look at all the great sheet fabric I got in return! It was part of the Vintage Sheet Swap over at Crafty Beana.
Here is all the sheet goodness laid out.
I swear my parents had this set of sheets above on their bed while I was growing up. I instantly recognized it.
Finally, a close up on some of my favorites from the set. Now, I just need to figure out what I am going to make from these! She also sent the cutest set of pins but I couldn't get a good picture of them at all! I will try again later, and if it turns out, I will add it to the post. They are adorable!

Happy Mail!

I have had some great mail over the last couple of weeks. A couple weeks ago I received my square fro j_q_adams aka. quiltdad. Isn't it great? He used the wonky log cabin tutorial by Jacquie. It is one of my favorite things.
He also knew that I needed some oranges and purples to finish off my postage stamp quilt so he sent this great array of fabric. The oranges in the top right corner are full fat quarters! I am so excited about these and have already been cutting them up and using them in the quilt. Thank you so much John! Progress pictures to come soon on that quilt. I have 35 10" squares now- can you believe that is 3,500 1.5" squares that are sewn together? I will be asking for advice soon on what looks good as a layout.
I came home from work today and found this 12x16 box packed full from whoopdedoo_5 who is in the Craftster Lap Quilt Swap with me. She had been looking for 1.5 inch squares for her postage stamp quilt and I pm'd her to see if she wanted to trade. She already had plenty of squares for her quilt but was still willing to trade fabric for my scrappy disappearing nine patch.
Earlier this week, she told me she was shipping me a box and I could just send what I thought would be an adequate amount back to her. When she told me that she had a 12x16 box full of fabric, I realized that my stash would probably not be big enough.
So I told her I would craft her something in return with some fabric. Of course, now I see that she sent me a huge amount of awesome novelty fabrics. Yes, dear readers, all of this fabric piled on the floor is from her. The last two are close ups so you can see some of the great patterns piled in here.
I think I am going to have to send her something extremely cool in return for all of this. Don't you think? Any ideas for cool items let me know. She likes dogs and cookbooks and fabric- obviously.
I am continuously struck by people's generosity on blogs and on craftster. It is amazing how much people will do for other people they have only spoken to virtually. I find it equally amazing that I have people who I call friends and who inspire me artistically across the United States and the world-most of whom I have never met face-to-face.
